EU finances the reconstruction of the “Remezijana“ Cultural Centre in Bela Palanka

The "Remezijana" Cultural Centre in Bela Palanka will be reconstructed with the support of the European Union (EU), which, through the EU PRO development programme, has allocated 110,000 Euros for roof repair, reconstruction of heating, new electric installations and lights as well as air conditioning and ventilation systems for the theatre and scenes and purchase of a new stage equipment.

This will improve the conditions for work and organisation of various cultural events, while improving energy efficiency and reducing heating costs.

As the Municipality of Bela Palanka has managed to provide co-financing of almost 20,000 Euros, the facility, built in 1948, will be completely reconstructed.

“All cultural events in our municipality take place in this building as it hosts theatre performances, cinemas and concerts, exhibitions, literary evenings and folklore events. The “Remezijana“ Cultural Centre is also a home to a number of cultural manifestations organised in Bela Palanka, "said Goran Miljković, the Mayor of Bela Palanka.

"With the energy efficiency we are planning to achieve, heating costs will be reduced, and the savings will be invested in culture," Miljković added.

In addition, by implementing the principles of good governance, a rulebook was adopted on the use and renting the premises of the “Remezijana“ Cultural Centre. These activities are carried out in partnership with the Swiss PRO programme supported by the Government of Switzerland.

The group of contractors led by Winners d.o.o. from Niš, which was selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the Municipality of Bela Palanka, should complete the works within 120 days.
